"Ever Beating Heart" is a song about doing what you feel is right, instead of what everyone else, or even society feels is right. It's a bit of a twist on the old adage, "Listen to your heart". The song contains two separate scenarios, the first describing a girl who listened, and the second describing two strangers who didn't. Written and recorded in 1996, in the spare bedroom of a small apartment where we lived, the song covered a new style that I had never done before. This demo was recorded on my old faithful Fostex 4 track. I've been known to go through some great lengths to get stuff recorded, but having the neighbors pounding on the wall and yelling "STOP" while I was trying to record vocals at 3:30Am completely ruined my concentration. It took me until 5:00Am to finally finish them. |
